have certified project managers on staff who have helped us define project processes
and procedures consistent with best practices and the PMI methodology. Clearly defined
objectives and constant communication ensure confidence of our customers throughout
each and every project.
Below are just a few examples of our CFD Analysis projects. We are glad to put you
in contact with any of our customers directly to learn more about each project and
our value add to their organization.
Project 1: Fortune 500 Global Technology provider specializing in the banking industry
Project 2: Fortune 500 Global Bank
Project 3: Fortune 500 Transportation Supplier
Project 4: Large communications solutions provider for 86 of the nation's top 100 metropolitan areas
Project 2:
Customer: Fortune 500 Global Bank
Synopsis: The customer had design plans for the first phase of a 100,000 sq ft. data center. CoolSolve was contracted to provide an evaluation of utilizing a sub floor partitioning product to recover 'lost' air. Although we provided the evaluation of the ROI of the partitioning product, what is interesting with this project is that during that process we uncovered a serious flaw in the plans for cooling. In this particular project the customer was targeting an initial power draw of 10kW average per rack. However, CoolSolve's CFD analysis quickly pointed out that the plans for power and cooling would only support 3kW average power consumption per rack. The identification of this lack of cooling prior to data center build prevented serious issues from manifesting.

Project 3:
Customer: Fortune 500 Transportation Supplier
Synopsis: CoolSolve has provided on going CFD services for their 40,000 sq. ft. co-location facility. Our customer uses these services as a competitive advantage over their competitors. Over the last 3 years we have improved efficiency.

Project 4:
Customer: Large communications solutions provider for 86 of the nation's top 100 metropolitan areas.
Synopsis: Customer had a 3500 sq ft data center that had 2 CRAC units that provided cooling for their telecommunications and IT equipment (some co-location customers occupied the space as well). One CRAC unit was intended for redundancy. Over time, as the heat load grew, both CRAC units had to be run at full speed to keep up with the load. Eventually, hot spots were occurring and the assumption was 2 CRAC units was no longer enough. Our customer had plans for knocking down walls and expanding the data center to accommodate a third CRAC unit. CoolSolve was contracted to identify which wall to knock down and develop plans for the new CRAC unit placement and supporting infrastructure. CoolSolve's thorough CFD analysis identified a much easier and low cost solution. Through the proper arrangement of floor tiles and sub floor pressure remediation, our customer was now able to cool the entire space with just one CRAC unit and use the existing second unit as standby. The customer was able to avoid over $300K in construction costs and the purchase of new CRAC unit. We were also able to shut one of the existing CRAC units off completely and raise the temperature of the primary CRAC unit by 1 degree.
